The latest news from Safe Harbor of Erin
Announcement: At Safe Harbor, our top priority is the health and safety of our clients and staff members. We are taking every precaution to minimize exposure risk, in accordance with CDC guidelines and the recommendations of local public health agencies. Our teams have implemented specific coronavirus protocol for our campuses in order to not only protect our current clients and staff, but also those looking to start their recovery journey. As of April 27, 2020 we are, once again, accepting new clients at our locations which include Memphis, Erin, Bucksnort, & Jefferson County, TN and Little Rock, AR. Any new client must have a recommendation form filled out before being considered. This can be filled out by a family member, government agency, church, etc.

Our protocol includes such measures:
  • Revised Intake Screening
  • Separated living for new clients that are accepted into our program
  • Thorough cleaning and sanitation of campuses and supplies on a regular basis
  • Asking staff to remain home if they exhibit any symptoms of coronavirus
  • Continued monitoring of all clients’ health
  • Reducing the amount of close contact among clients and staff

Regardless of your location, recovery with a more controlled environment may be a safer place than your current living situation.

"Hey, my name is George Wood. I was born in Columbia, TN on June 6th, 1996. I grew up in a family of 6. I was the youngest of the 6. So, I have a lot of people to look up to. I grew up as a confused kid as my mother had several husbands. When I was about seven my mother married an addict that drank and smoked weed. So, I became curious about what he was doing. My brothers started doing it with him because they were older than me. Until one day, I was 8 years old and my brothers had some weed and I smoked with them. That is when it all started and by the age of 13, I was a full-blown smoker and was getting high every day. Then I started partying and drinking all the time, not caring for years. By the age of 17, I got a girl pregnant with my first child. I quit high school and started working and partying on the weekends. Then one day, I was at a friend’s house that did all drugs, and I was out of weed and he had meth. I told myself, no you are not going to do that. But after a while I gave in and said yes to it. That is when my life really went downhill. I quit my job and started selling drugs to support my habit. I started hanging out with all the wrong people. I was 19 and I was driving friends and got pulled over and had drugs in the car and went to jail. I went to jail for a meth charge and bonded out. Because of the hold the drugs had on me I went right back to getting high and selling drugs again. I walked out on all my kids for drugs for years. By the age of 24, I had been to jail 4 times doing a total of 18 months. I got out the last time and started a program called Drug Court and I was doing good in 2020. Then one day I started drinking again and started falling down the same path. So, Drug Court sent me to Safe Harbor of Erin on July 27th, 2020. At first, I did not want to come. I hated myself for messing up again. But now I look at it as a blessing in my life. This was truly Gods plan for me. I just recently graduated the program on January 17th, 2021 (two days ago). I have such a new outlook on life now and I am more ready then ever to be a good father and a great sober person. Thanks to this program that Safe Harbor has offered. I am ready to be the person I was born to be. 2021 will be my year to focus and become everything I was meant to be. Thanks for reading my story and God bless all the suffering addicts. I hope your story ends like mine, with freedom from active addiction."

Testimony Tuesday: Donald Kyle Verble
Intake pic - 10/19/2020
Current pic - 12/08/2020
"I was born November 5th, 1986 to a single mother. She suffered from postpartum depression and felt guilty for having me by herself. So, she dropped me off at my grandparents house when I was 3 months old. My grandparents raised me for the next 3 years in a loving home. I was brought up in church, The First Baptist Church in Anna, Illinois. My mother came back for me when I was 3 and had found a man, I would call my dad. My stepfather was a really good man to me and my mother. Besides the constant drinking and partying. My mother became an addict or had been one for some time. I would be left in my room for hours while they partied, so I would not be in the way. My stepfather would come get me every night after my mom would fall asleep and we would watch sports/ Nascar. My childhood was good for the most part. I did not really know the difference. I was abused by an older neighbor boy and so I asked my mother to put me in Karate and she did. My mother and stepfather divorced when I was 10 and my mother went to Cumberland Heights Treatment Center. When she came home, I met my true and sober mother and she loved me like no other and showed me that love. We were happy. When I was 13 around 2AM on a cold October night, I woke to her screaming. Her stomach was swelled up like she was 7 months pregnant. So, I called 911. She was suffering from a chronic pancreas attack. My mother had to go through 19 surgeries over 4-5 years and because of the pain medication she was back being dependent on a substance and was not the same person. I had to grow up fast, so I could take care of her. I learned to cook and took mowing jobs to help out when it came to money. My grandparents helped out tremendously. At this point I started using drugs also to mask the pain of the mother I finally had and her not being the old her. We used together. I did anything, any substance that was in front of me or whatever I could get to make me feel something other than the way I was feeling. When I was 20 years old, I met my first wife. I was married at 21 and my first son was born November 28th, 2010. His name is Spencer. I instantly fell in love with this beautiful baby boy. True love for another human being. I stayed using all the way until my second son Brently was born January 13th, 2013. I stopped using drugs at this point. I had my family. My mother was getting sicker and decided to stop taking the pills and went back to church. March 6th, 2013 was the best day, me and my mother had together. We went to see a movie, out to eat, and we went shopping. It was a great day. My mother died 2 days later, and God called her home. I was broken again. My wife and I were using again. Two weeks after my mom passed, my wife went to the wick office and her dope and needle fell out the diaper bag. My two beautiful boys were taken into DCFS custody. I lost it and instead of getting clean I fueled my addiction more and more. Our rights were taken, and they were adopted. We divorced. I went to treatment to get clean, but it was too late to get my boys back. So, I did it for me. After, 1 year clean I moved to Tennessee with my cousin. I met the most beautiful woman named Tanya. She has two beautiful kids. I stayed clean and fell in love with them. Tanya allowed me to call them my own kids. So, God blessed me with a second chance at a family. They call me dad. Being an addict, that I am I know alcohol is a drug, but I thought I was the exception. So, I started drinking. I had a great job as a foreman for a gutter company in Clarksville, TN. I was drunk and thought or I did not think is what I should say, and I got some dope and began the destruction of what God has given me once again. I lost my job, house, and my family. I was homeless and had lost/ pushed away the love of my life and let my new family down. All I had was the clothes on my back and my phone in my pocket that only worked on Wi-Fi. I turned on my YouTube and at the top of my YouTube homepage was a song by King and Country (Only God Knows). God was speaking to me through music. He knew how to reach me. I made a post on Facebook on the Clarksville chat asking about churches. Churches that you can feel God speaking through the pastor. The pastor and a couple members from a small church called Freedom Church in Clarksville on Ft Campbell Blvd had reached out to me. October 18th, 2020 I was dropped off by Tanya and I thought I would never see her or those beautiful kids again. It was raining and I dropped to my knees and cried out to God. I am yours do with me what you will. He said stand up and walk into the church. So I did, and the pastor was on fire for God and I felt him not only there but within inside me. All the pain, worry, resentment, guilt washed away. I felt a sense of peace. A peace that cannot be explained but felt. After the service, a man and woman came to me. The man, Ryan and his wife Dawn. They gave me a number to a lovely lady that is the admission coordinator at Safe Harbor Erin, TN. Now I have a spot and a bed waiting on me in a faith-based program. The next morning, I went to Burger King on Riverside in Clarksville waiting on Ryan and Dawn to pick me up to take me to Safe Harbor. As I am waiting God speaks to me and tells me that a man with a backpack is going to walk around the corner and God said for me to ask him how he’s doing because he’s needing help and will go with me. One-minute later, a man named Preston walked around the corner with a backpack. I felt in my heart what I had to say to this man. God gave me the words. I asked him to call the Admission Coordinator at Safe Harbor of Erin. He called and he was accepted the same as I was. Preston and I are still here after 2 months both working, have food, comfortable beds, and great God loving staff and great peers. My journey is not over. It has only begun. My fiancé and kids are back in my life again supporting my recovery. But the better thing is she has found God and asked him into her life because she sees what he is doing for me. No matter what I’ve been through or will go through, I know God is with me and I can make it through anything. I am in the perfect place to build my foundation for Christ and become the man he has made me to be. Watch out world great things are yet to come and all things through God are a blessing."

We would like to introduce & welcome our new Assistant Director, Seth Blackmon.
"At the age of 5 I gave my heart to the Lord. Shortly thereafter I felt a longing to help people....whether it was from getting involved in my Christian School or trying to be a witness in my youth group.....I’ve always tried to find The Heartbeat of God. My hunger for lost souls increased when I was privileged to go on a mission trip to Africa. At that point God planted a seed in my heart that continued to grow from that intersection and I realized that God could truly use me. I have been given the opportunity now for even more growth. Through my walk in life, God has put me in a position to nurture that once small seed and continue to grow. I feel at Safe Harbor, that our ultimate goal is to reach people for Christ and that is my heart's true desire. The opportunity that I have here to see people to Christ and also help in the road to recovery is amazing!!
I am truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful mission!"

Testimony Tuesday: Sean Brassfield
Intake pic - 07/07/2020
Current pic - 09/29/2020
"My name is Sean Brassfield. I am 33 and originally from Southaven, Mississippi. Me and my family moved to Erin Tennessee about two years ago. I am going to start this part of my Testimony going back about 7 years ago because that is when my addictions really took hold of me. At the time me and my family were living in Southaven and I was mechanic for a shipping container company in Memphis. While at work, I had a freak accident happen that ended up with 30% of my lower bodied burned. After two months in the hospital and more than 40 surgeries I came home with countless prescriptions for many different pain meds and plus I was already prescribed Adderall. But none of those was my true drug of choice. What ended up as my drug choice was alcohol. Which to make a long story short, alcohol ended my 15-year marriage I have lost the opportunity for me to ever live with my 3 children again. But thankfully Safe Harbor had a place for me and gave me the opportunity for me to get my head straight. And my life is now halfway on track. This testimony marks my third month in the program and I’m starting to see a little light shining at the end of this very long tunnel that I have been traveling down and hopefully these next three months have me in arms reach of that light.
I want thank Pastor Kenny and the rest of the staff of Safe Harbor of Erin for this opportunity and giving me a chance that I probably did not deserve. Thank you"

Pastor Kenney spoke a powerful word Sunday night on strong holds out of 2nd Corinthians 10:3-5 with demonstrations...Amen!

"At the age of 8 around my birthday party, my father was drinking a beer and allowed me to have a sip. I ended up drinking the entire mug. I think I was hooked at the point. I am not sure if I got buzzed or drunk I just know that I liked the taste. Alcohol was always present in the home and at family gatherings. My parents divorced when I was 8 and my mother also started working full time. Leaving 4 kids at home during the day and summers. My younger brother and I started experimenting with different liquids not knowing that I was actually being hooked on alcohol and becoming an alcoholic. Throughout my teen years, I secretly drank and got my first DUI at 18. Due to a technicality I was able to beat the charge, which in retrospect was the beginning of more DUI’s, institutions, and overdoses. Over the past 30 years I have encountered several hospital and institutional housings. I’ve always tried to get better for others, not really placing much value on myself. On my last overdose while in the hospital a nurse that has dealt with and helped me over the years came to my room and while talking to me became very emotional over me being a repeat patient of hers.
She explained to me that the medical staff worked very hard to revive me. She later came back and asked if I would be interested in going some where that could possibly help me get better and stated she highly recommended a place called, Safe Harbor. Knowing I had to do something different…. I said yes. After completing the phone interview in my hospital room I was discharged and made my way to Safe Harbor. I was met by the staff and Pastor Kenny, still unaware of what it was that I was getting myself into, I was still open to the process! I went through to quarantine and was moved to transitional living. I began helping in the kitchen by washing dishes, prepping, and serving dinner. The client/ staff that was over the kitchen position decided to leave. I am grateful to have this opportunity that I have today. Because of this, I am in a “Safe Harbor”, and today I am able to bless others with the gift God gave me. To my GOD be all the Glory & Honor! Amen"

Testimony Tuesday: James Semora
Intake pic - 03/14/2020
Current pic - 08/10/2020

"I grew up in states custody all my life. Foster home to foster home, group home to reform school until I was seventeen. That is the age when I went out on my own. I lived in a shed behind a restaurant that I worked at until I was able to get my first hotel room. From there I got my first place. I worked my way into living the “American Dream.’ By the time I was 27, I owned two businesses: Affordable Home Repair & Remodeling and Kimberly’s Fashions. I was buying a four-bedroom home with seven acres. My fiance and I had new vehicles and kids had everything. I was exhausted all the time and my friend offered me a line of “Meth”. From that moment, I thought my problems were solved. I could do anything, I could work all the time, do my home duties, and spend time with my kids and not get tired. Then it started getting expensive and my friend showed me how to make it. Same friend has been in prison ever since. This last time in jail, I decided that was it and no more. I am tired of losing everything. My friend said he was coming to Safe Harbor. I was going too. Since I have been here, I have regained some family trust. I have $3500.00 in the bank, have a good job, met some good people. I am even getting custody of my little boys. Just goes to show you that this place works! It is not all rainbows here, but it is a place to get you head on straight and get some time and structure. Some mornings, I wake up here and think, “I hate this place.” But what I should really be thinking is, “Thank you God for a place like this!”

James Semora"

Every client here at Safe Harbor works so hard at remaining clean and many of us staff know that struggle 1st hand. We want to spot light them in there achievements and encouraging them in there walk....Amen!

Our hats off to each of you!

Testimony Tuesday: Steven Nelson
Intake pic - 04/14/2020
Current pic - 07/20/2020

“My name is Steven Anthony Nelson. I am from Grundy County, Tennessee. I came to Safe Harbor Erin, a broken man. Around Feb. 2nd, on the anniversary of my fathers’ death of Mesothelioma. I found myself at the end of a long journey of addiction. I was wanted for violation of community corrections of 4 years. Four years is how long I ran from this. I never reported the first time. I was in a bad relationship for the 3rd consecutive year, with the same woman. I was lost in addiction to meth and just wanted to end my life overdosing 5 times in a week. I struggled to even remember the woman’s name I had been with for the 3 years.
I was sick of hurting her and seeing her cry due to me (cheating and not coming home). I left my home in Tracy City, at 5 AM to rent a motel with another chick and stayed gone a week. The time flew and I never slept the whole time. Doing “X” amount of dope as an IV user the thrill went away fast. I found myself on the phone with my ex. At that time, I was wanting to go home and arguing with the new girl. It was cold outside with snow on the ground. I walked out on the balcony and waived a hundred-dollar bill to a stranger. For a ride 11 miles to my house. When I got there, I found an empty home.
The only other home on the road was where she must have been. I called the guy and stated, “Send my girl home or else I’m coming there to take her and to deal with you.” This person said she was not there. I knew better, so I headed that way. When I got there, I kicked the door in and hurt him really bad as she was running out. I walked towards my house and seen blue lights coming down my road. I ran into my house, pushed things up to the door, ran to my bedroom and then decided to end my life. As police officers beat on my door, I put a lethal amount of meth in a bowl of water and pulled up 4 shots that should have ended my life and it did not. The cops begging me through the door to stop. As they are shooting holes in the door, they could see me injecting myself in the neck countless times.
I faded to black and regained consciousness a week later in Grundy County jail. Where I had been in a coma. COVID-19 hits soon after and all court dates stopped. The district attorney asks me if I will plea to come to Safe Harbor Erin. I take the deal and a week later I find myself here. I’m out of sorts and out of place. I hate it here. All the rules, stress, jobs and people telling me what to do and how to do it. My life is over. “Where the hell is this God they speak of?”
I figured at the end of each day, just when and how I will leave and take back what I feel is mine. My girlfriend, life, home, and my possessions of 30+ years and to run and go get high as a bird. Then before I knew it, a month had passed, and my ex contacted me. We talked about getting married. To the point I went to the courthouse to get the certificates. A day before I am to pick them up, I talk to her and she is high and doing just as she did before. This completely destroyed me!
As I am lost again, I find out that my mother had been writing, cashing, and forging checks on me. So, I lose her too. I struggle through all this. I really hate my life being that I lost my girlfriend, my mother, everything my father had left me, and my children will not even talk to me. They said that they hated me. I am completely broken. I pray to God to end this and to just let me die or change my life. To take out everything in me and my life that I do not need…. “EVERYTHING”.
There are very few staff here that have the time or the ability to talk to me. I need counsel. I have respect for Mr. Short. I have respect for George. I do not feel comfortable talking to them about these personal things. Then out of the blue we get a new staff member. Someone that I can relate to and I get this gut feeling about him. This man is real and takes the time to have brief talks. He gains my respect and I give him respect because he earns it. Not demanding it and not throwing his authority around and just the way he carries himself. He cares, he helps, and he asks how everyone is doing daily. I can open up to him. His name is Chris.
Over a month or so, I find that my life has changed. I have worked myself into being brought to a position at work where I will be hired on. I have found people who want me around. I belong somewhere besides the dope house. Through all the things that have happened here at Erin, Tennessee: A job, finding a different Steven, regaining a sober life after 32 years of addiction, letting God do what I prayed for and taking the trash out of my life, I have met my future, let go of past addictions and past relationships, left the dope game, found gainful employment, built trust and through having met Chris I have learned God is real and has always had my back.
I have built a nest egg. My employer wants me to hire in with them. I have found a new relationship with a new girl with God and with a few choice people I can really call my friends. My life has come a full 180-degree change. When just a few months ago I died 3,4,5 times. I will never go back to the thing I was and will always strive to be a better man daily. Due to this program and a few choice people. I have a life changing story. If I can do these things anyone can because my lowest point was death daily and my highest point is regaining a sober life. Free of my addictions and afflictions. Through Safe Harbor of Erin, Tennessee.
I thank God, staff here and pray daily that my testimony will one day change someone’s life. If all of my years of hell is what it took to find myself maybe someone can change their life before having one through all that I have.
Changed man forever due to the grace and mercy of God and the patience and staff at Safe Harbor Erin.
- Steven Anthony Nelson”

Testimony Tuesday: Denver Martin

Current pic - 07/13/2020

"My name is Denver Martin. I am 43 years old. I started abusing methamphetamine two weeks from my 13th birthday. Immediately turned into daily use. I started shooting the drug at 15 years old. From 1989 to 2010 I was high nonstop. I spent a year in the Penal Farm in Memphis, TN for charges for possession of a precursor used to manufacture. I read the Bible nonstop and felt good and just knew I was ready for a clean life and was strong enough to carry that out. The pastor there told me, “Martin, you have to take The Lord out of here with you, or you will fail.” I thought I had it. I thought I was ready. But I didn’t even last a week and I was back at it nonstop. I didn’t even make it to church. My whole life was wrapped up in everything to do with the drug. I lost so many people to the drug trade family and friends. A lot of my family members including my Daddy to cancer. Him only knowing me sober as an adolescent. My six kids never knowing their Dad sober at all. In 2020, I got busted again in my Mom’s car that she bought with the life insurance money from my Dad’s death. The D.T.F. seized my Mom’s car and I went to jail. I returned to The Lord and prayed and prayed. I was in county for 11 months and 13 days. 40 days before I came to Safe Harbor. A man by the name of Mark Sharpe, came to the jail telling us about this wonderful place full of opportunity for us to have a future. A real life. If we would just trust Jesus and believe in him and what he did for us on the cross. You see with God that which is impossible with man is possible with Christ. That is scripture if you want to know what book and what verse I encourage you to seek, if you do, you shall find. So he gave me his number. I gave it to my Momma. She called him and he gave her, Mr. Kenny Lane’s number. She called him and he started researching me. Mr. Lane worked HARD to get me here. But even after the court agreeing for me to go. I still got sent to prison. Now this is where God stepped in. I know now that Jesus wanted me to see just what it was. He and these two men were saving me from and most of all saving me from myself. I was in T.D.O.C custody for 7 days, when they sent for me and put me on the bus back to Tipton County, TN. Mr. Lane was there and I walked right out the door in Mr. Lane’s custody. What a feeling but only a drop in the bucket of the good that was to come. I got here in Erin, TN on August 6th. They gave me a REAL JOB and I filled out a W-2. The first one I have ever filled out. They helped me every step of the way and I went to work. It was HARD at first but then I started feeling good really good. You pay rent here and you see a lot of this is teaching you how to function as a person with lawful employment. They help you save money. Which is amazing because when you graduate you have a head start. What a wonderful place this is. All glory to Christ and so much and so much thanks to Mr. Lane. My kids are grown and my youngest just told me the other night while I was in my feelings and missing them all. He said, “Dad I miss you very much, but I am ok with you being gone because I feel like I have a Dad now.” To anyone reading this that’s crawling through the flames thinking it’s hopeless. It’s NOT. Now I’m in line for permanent employment at TN Bun. My life has changed drastically. I get my strength from God. Phil- 4:13 I can do all things through Christ. Who strengthens me. To all you men reading this in active addiction. Just decide to call Mr. Lane or Mr. Sharpe. Get here and stay focused, trust the process. God is here and you can do it. I’m going to close with the word. 2 Corinthians 5:17- Anyone who is in Christ Jesus is a new creation. Old things have come to pass. Behold the New come Forth. The last five words is what’s going on my graduation Plaque. If Christ can love me enough to do this for me despite of all I’ve done and all I didn’t do. He will do it for you too. We are all his children. It’s not going to be easy. Nothing worth having is easy to get or easy to keep. I want to thank my family, the staff, Mr. Sharpe, Mr. Lane, and Miss Margy AND my recovery brothers. I love you guys. I’m proud of my fellow recovery brothers. They are a real special bunch of guys. AND to the most high our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. Thank you for what you did at Calvary for all of us. I love you Jesus."

"I have come a long way in my walk with God on my road to recovery. It has in no way, shape or form been easy. If it was, then my foundation wouldn’t have been as strong as it is. I came to Safe Harbor a broken, lost and confused man. I have had many trials, many faults in character and many shortcomings. My addictions have put me in many places that I never should have been and put me in situations that I shouldn’t have been in but it has, however; put me here. I believe that God put me here for a reason. He put me on the road that I have traveled to humble me and prepare me for the man he wants me to be.
In my journey, the struggle I have been in has better prepared me to help my fellow man in this battle we are all facing addiction. I believe recovery is a struggle as well but if a man helps another then he himself will get something positive out of it. He will grow himself by giving away his experience, knowledge and time. I strongly believe, in order to go to a place you’ve never been before then you must go where you have already been. I am my brother’s keeper."

Testimony Tuesday: Chris Cottner
Intake pic - 11/29/2019
Current pic - 05/23/2020

"My name is Chris Cottner. I am 31 years of age. I grew up in a small town called Eaton, TN. My childhood wasn't ideal. My mother died when I was 7 yrs old and I never met my father. I was adopted by my aunt and my uncle. I grew up facing the difficulties of trying to cope by myself and not letting anyone in. I started drinking when I was younger not only to fit in but as a numbing solution to the numerous internal problems I was facing both mentally and spiritually. Now fast forward until the day I turned 17, I decided to join the military. I stayed in the military for around 12 yrs. I spent the majority of my younger days as well as numerous early years of the military drinking. When I turned 21 I got married, shortly after getting married, my son Bradley was born. I was overjoyed, but I couldn't find the courage to face my fears or stress without drinking. So eventually, I drank away my marriage by being a drunk, abusive person. I was an awful person to them and everyone that ever gave a crap about me. There isn't a bridge that I haven't burned. Fast forward until November 2019. I was driving and getting drunk and truly wanted to kill myself. I have hated myself for a long, long time. I still face these issues of inadequacy even still today. So, whilst driving, I was calling everyone that thought something of me and told them goodbye. I was already gone in my mind but for some odd reason, I was pulled over for a DUI and faced some jail time for the offense. After I was released, I went back to my go to drinking. I had my last check from my job that I lost and spent a chunk of it on alcohol and walked 6 miles to a hotel drinking the whole way. Once I got there, I drank a lot more. The next day, my best friend's sister came and visited me..unbeknownst to me, also to pick me up. I spent some time with my mother where I drank everyday and screwed that all up to the point where I was taken to another program in Jackson. I was there almost 2 weeks and reached the point as to where it was time for me to go. During the last day, I got an invite for Safe Harbor. I had no idea what I was about to get myself into. This guy said it was a faith based organization and at that instant, I thought no way am I going there but I was already on the way.
The whole ride he was talking about God and faith, which at the time I didn't believe in any of that nor did I ever intend to believe into something I couldn't see. I mean, look how great my life has been so in my head whoever was looking after me obviously didn't give much crap so why should I. Day one of the program, I hated everything and everyone here. I didn't want any part of it. As time passed, I kinda opened up to a couple of people and found an out in basketball. While here, I've developed something that if you would've asked me 5 yrs ago, I would've laughed at you but I have found help in God. I've been baptized and I pray often, still not as much as I should but I do. Safe Harbor even though it's given me every emotion both positive and negative has really changed my perspective on life and my worth. I've learned that through God, even someone with a troubled past is worth something. Since being here, I have found an opportunity to prove to myself and eventually to everyone I encounter that I am someone. I matter."

Thank you Kenny and Deborah Lane for the 30 bars of soap you guys donated to Erin! We appreciate you guys!!

Testimony Tuesday: Coty Pulley
Intake pic - 12/23/2019
Current pic - 04/09/2020

"My name is Coty Pulley and I’m 34 yrs old. I’ve been using drugs for over 20 yrs. It all started when I was 12 yrs old. I started using to try to seem cool to the older kids I was hanging out with. Throughout my teens, I tried lots of different drugs. By the time I was 20, I was an addict and I began to get into trouble. When I was 23, I caught my first felony and I never slacked off, I just started using other substances that didn’t’ stay in your system as long for probation and of course it caught up with me. Out of the last 10 yrs, I’ve spent 7 of them in and out of jail, had multiple overdoses and ruined relationships with my family. I chose drugs over my own kids and my freedom. I’m still working on those relationships they are getting better but far from fixed. I started searching for answers and everyone told me I needed to get God in my life and I never listened up until about 2 yrs ago. I didn’t even believe in God. I thought to myself: how could God let me go through all the things I’ve been through. But I was tired of living the way I had been living and bad things happening, so I gave it a chance. Because my way was not working. Once I got out of the way and let God take over, my life has changed. I’m happier than I’ve been in a long time and I don’t take the little things for granted anymore. I’m grateful for Safe Harbor for giving me the chance to come here because they saved my life. Since I came here, I have turned my life over to God and things couldn’t be better. I don’t worry about the little stuff anymore because I know God’s got me. And I always wondered what my purpose in life was and now I know. God put me here to help people and that’s what I want to do. So, to anyone out there searching for answers, just ask God to show you the way. Thanks again Safe Harbor for helping me find myself and for this second chance at life."

Testimony Tuesday: Vincent Lindsey
Intake pic - 01/24/2020
Current pic - 03/28/2020

“Who am I? I’m a recovering addict named Vincent Lindsey, and my addiction was inherited because I came from a long life of drug users and alcoholics. But at the same time, I had a choice, and I chose to do what I saw and that was to get high. Now, not one time did anyone explain to me that doing drugs was addictive and a disease. All I saw was the joy and laughter that it brought to the people that used. Not once did anyone warn me about the laws, the lies, the deceit, the prison time and the loss of trust from loved ones. My use of drugs had controlled my life over 25 years, placed in prison for 127 years. I’m what you call today a recovering addict. Because of my use of drugs, I’m not what you call normal. Everyday of my life has become a struggle to stay drug free, to stay out of prison, to remain a husband and a productive person.” - Vincent Lindsey

Testimony Tuesday: Noah Adams
Intake pic - 11/13/2019
Current pic - 03/27/2020

"My name is Noah Adams, I am currently a client at Safe Harbor. I want to say I had very difficult childhood, yet the pain and abuse made me a very strong person. I’ve been a severe meth addict for on and off 10 years. The last 5 I used needles.

I was up to about a gram shooting up that much sometimes 3x a day. I was married living in a two-story house and lost it all…towards the end before I found refuge here, I bounced around from house to house crashing on someone’s couch. Usually only sleeping once every week. One day I wasn’t satisfied with what my dealer tried to sell me, we had an argument, things got physical and he nearly shot me in the head. The bullet went through the bill of my hat…scary.

If you want change, I strongly suggest Safe Harbor of Erin. Being here I’ve established balance back to my life. Now on great terms with my family, 3 months ago they wouldn’t speak to me. I talk to my daughter every day almost and I’m able to buy her gifts. I’m also proud to have earned a $13\hr. job that I intend to stay at.

Now family and friends say that I’m a positive light to everyone I meet. Even though I’ve always been a little goofy now it’s not just a mask. I’m truly believe Safe Harbor saved my life and I’ll never forget all I’ve learned here.

Sincerely, Noah Adams"

Testimony Tuesday: Patrick Rinks
Intake pic - 11/20/2019
Current pic - 02/21/2020

"Hello, my name is Patrick Rinks. I’m from Gibson Co, TN. I started using drugs at an early age. I started with using\smoking weed at age 13. Then it became weed as well as alcohol combined. I drank so much by the time I reached the legal drinking age, I HATED it! By 15, I was introduced to a drug known as “the devil’s drug”! Crystal meth!
By that point in my life, I never thought I would be addicted to any drugs, but as the time I was using increased from day to day it dawned on my so I gave into the belief that meth had grabbed me and it was not letting go. And at that point, I really didn’t care. A few months down the line I had my first child. I got married to his mother and at that point I tried and tried to stop using drugs. But there was no hope as I kept falling into the patterns until she finally decided to leave me. So, what do you think I did? I went out and got even higher. I went on a binge for weeks then finally crashed.
In 2016, my second child was born. Me and her mother both struggled with meth use. To make a long story short, she was able to get clean, but I could not. So, she left me as well. I had it in my head that they would not allow me to be a part of her life, so I never tried. I ended up becoming involved with my dealer. By the time I reached 18, I started using meth by way of IV! Because of the girl I was with had influenced that dramatic turn. Which is the way I ended up getting Hep C in 2018. But I didn’t let that stop me. I kept using into 2019. The mother of my daughters and I got back together and had let my drug use take over again. I lost her once more and wanted to die!! I had a death wish. I started mixing heroin and meth, in an attempt to kill myself. I got close every time, but God clearly was not ready to let me die. I then realized I had a purpose and went to Pathways. They led me to a man named Brannon Powell. He called Safe Harbor of Erin and they told me to be here by 6pm. He came to Pathways and got me and brought me up here.
Since I have been in Safe Harbor, I have been baptized and became closer to God. I feel that Safe Harbor saved my life! The staff here are great. Sometimes they are hard on us, but if they were not, we would not change our way of thinking! Which our old ways of thinking never led us anywhere besides jails, institutions and heartbreak. They were able to find me a job and the tools needed to deal with problems without the use of drugs. Basically, what I’m saying is just because I didn’t mention jails or any other drugs in this testimony doesn’t mean I didn’t use them or have not been to jail because I have used them and have been to jail many times.
I am here to be the voice for every friend and family member I’ve ever lost due to drug addiction. Give this place a chance. It works if you work it and you die if you don’t. thank you, Safe Harbor for changing my life. Now I’m engaged to the mother of my girls. I get to see all of my family a lot more. I know that without me coming here, that would never have happened."

Testimony Tuesday: Payton Pearce
Intake pic - 08/19/2019
Current pic - 02/13/2020

"What’s up ya’ll, my name is Payton and I just wanna say I know I’m a better man today because I gave my life to God.
I guess I’ll start off by talking a little bit about how I got started off in this life and why it led me to be the man I’m trying so hard to be today. I was already born into a drug addicted family and I only had my brother 11 months older than me, my mother at this point had already lost the 5 kids before him and a year after I was born, my little sister came along so it was us 3. I don’t remember too much, but I do remember from 1 year to me being 6. Me and my siblings were severely physically and emotionally abused. On that aspect, I won’t go into much detail but because of it my brother, sister and I were removed from the situation and put into a very loving and caring Christian home. So, from 6 to 16, I lived with an older couple who I’ve always called Nana and PawPaw. Nana and Paw Paw had two previous daughters of their own named Hope and Gina and together even though we didn’t have much money together they did a fantastic job showing us what love is and what God could do in our lives if we let Him. Of course, I was the wild child and had to go find out things the hard way and that’s exactly what I did.
Well, I remember my biological father and I’ve already had mixed emotions about what led me up to living where I was, so I actually tracked him down and took off to live with him. It put a huge dent in my relationship with my brother and sister, Gina, Hope, Nana and PawPaw. But at this point, I didn’t care because I met my father and he was letting me do whatever I wanted and that’s where it turned south. Now I will say I’m happy to have met my dad because he truly had a great heart, but he was too caught up in addiction and he passed it on to me.
The two years I spent with my dad involved smoking meth and doing any other drug that passed through the doors, he had me making and selling the dope while he worked and we attempted to raise two baby boys he had along the 2 year spree with me. I won’t go into details but December 23rd, 2016 my dad died, and my life went to hell.
I was mad at the world I started stealing, I started fighting, got involved in shootings and the whole 9 yards. The great promising Christian man my Nana and PawPaw raised completely disappeared. Out of all this, I spent close to a good two years in a county jail with over 12 years of state probation and about 8 felony convictions.
Nana and Paws arms were opened wide, I literally came crawling back. I found God in jail. Jail led me to Safe Harbor and here I reconnected with that promising spiritual man my Nana and PawPaw helped raise. I have a beautiful, God-loving wife to be who has two amazing kids that call me dad and for all of this, I’m gonna take and live the life God has planned for me. Every day, I thank God and my family for not giving up on me. I still have a long way to go but I’m going to get there."

Testimony Tuesday: Morgan Allred
Intake pic - 11/19/2019
Current pic - 02/09/2020

"I am Morgan Christopher Allred, an all-round swell guy and a drug addict…
I was born on a military base in El Paso, TX to Maurice Chatman and Peggy Allred. My father, although in my life now, was out of it early on. My mother and I absconded to Germany where I was raised for a short portion of my adolescence. After returning to the US, we resided in my mother’s home state- KS. There, I grew up…an only child rambunctious in nature. A mixed kid with white relatives and a responsible mother who tried to raise a black man. Although I was raised in a great environment, my mother wasn’t able to be everywhere at once. My adventurous nature led me everywhere she wasn’t. the first time I tried mood altering substances I must’ve been 15…alcohol. My friends and I went joyriding in one of their parents’ cars. I got drunk. That opened up the gateway for way more experiences, leading me to weed.
Long story short, my trip with illicit substances stuck me in Juve, boy’s homes and 30 days after turning 18… my first felony. Although bright and athletic, my future had been decided by a string of poor choices. This took on great lengths until at the age of 23 I was scared out my reprobate ways by a bullet in the leg and a long stay at the county jail. There, I turned to writing and upon getting out, dived into my sobriety and local arts community. I mad a local import as a poet and activist and grew into a role of organizer. Yet, my addiction…
Never quite called resurfaced at all. I began selling and using on the side-anything and everything while living a double life. I was an intravenous user and within a few short months I had spiraled out of control. I sought help and found refuge with my family in TN. With my last 50 bucks, some hide, the help of a friend and some gumption I left Kansas and relocated to be with my family in the great state of Agriculture and Commerce.
After coming off of my detox, I hit the ground running in Nashville with the intent to reestablish myself in an artistic community. After reading art and befriending many at the local artists and poets I was urged to organize PBNPNASH, a collective of local artists who have made great impact in Nashville over the last 4 years.
Sadly, even this enterprise didn’t satiate my addictive hunger and before I knew it, alcohol had shamed me into my own private exodus, out of which I new only one way. After failing to stop myself and being kicked out of a halfway house and residing finally in a mission with friends and family giving me distance I knew I had to admit my powerlessness over my addiction. Through channels brought to me by universal connection. I serendipitously arrived at Safe Harbor Erin, TN. My family cried as they left me inside. Praying that I have the power to change my life and although I wanted to fight this change I knew I was too weak to do anything so after 3 days of sleep, I began my Safe Harbor sabbath.
So far, this experience has given me every opportunity to expand my mentality, physicality and spirituality. I delve into reflective meditations, exercise daily, and pray that the higher power take me down the path created for me. I have renewed faith and resolve, money saved and transferable skills learned at a job that can become a career. I am in the process of learning to forgive and love myself and in turn others. Setting a standard of ethics for my future and am using it to dissipate the pain, shame and resentments of my past. I am building a solidified foundation of spirituality and faith that will help me grow into a sol that shines through the darkness of my past and be a light that guides.
Ultimately, Safe Harbor has been my wizard of my journey through Oz, reminding me that the gifts it has given had been present all along. Thanks to my peers and leaders here and to those I’ve had and those I’ve yet to meet.
Ad Astra per aspera. Tempus Fugit."

Testimony Tuesday: Kevin Gaither
Intake pic - 12/23/2019
Current pic - 01/30/2020

"Hello, I am Kevin. I am a recovering addict. My story of addiction started in my teenage years. The most important years of my life. There were rules and expectations I was expected to follow and adhere to. And I use those terms very loosely. Rules without consequences are pointless. That's how it started. I started with smoking weed early in life and it was a wide open gateway in my case. By 18, I had used cocaine and was on my way to becoming an alcoholic. By 19 years old, my decisions led to a near death accident of being ran over by a car. I was blacked out drunk behind a vehicle at a party.
But that didn't stop me from using and abusing substances. I was prescribed high powered pain medication. That led to a 10+ year addiction to opiates. Other drugs seemed to find a way in and out of my life during that time. While I was going through the physical recovery of the trauma, I accepted Jesus into my life as my Lord and Savior. And it did make an impact. But I wasn't as strong in my faith as I am now. The opiate struggle ended some 3-4 yrs ago. Only to be replaced with a mental and physical dependence to meth. That substance has had the most impact on my life in the worst possible way. Ruined important family relationships, wasted time with jobs I could have done very well with. I could be so much further ahead in life.
Instead, I am here at Safe Harbor of Erin. But, don't by any means, mistake that statement for contempt. This is exactly where God has led me. On December 17, 2019 I was very disturbed mentally and began having suicidal thoughts. That bothered me so much. I reached out to my sister Alicia and her significant other Ryan. She was at a loss, so to speak. Unsure of what to do or how to help. So, she asked him. Ryan knew of Safe Harbor from going through the program in Memphis. I would not be here if I had not made that one important phone call.
Ryan contacted a friend he met and kept contact with throughout the past years. That person put us in contact with Margy at the Erin facility. I was, by the grace of God accepted and was on my way to a wonderful recovery. I have been clean of all substances for over a month now but in just that short period of time, my mind has cleared. My eyes have opened to the proper way to live life. The staff here at Safe Harbor of Erin are truly men of God. This program has saved my life and I am forever grateful. I have since developed a stronger bond with God and have faith that I make through any thing life has in store for me. I am now in the hands of God."

"My name is Larry L Chatman. I want everyone to know how God has blessed my life. For one, He saved my life where I was headed for death. He heard my cry for help and he saved me. I have been in trouble with the law since 1986, I started drinking and drugging in 1983, when I was around 16. I had no desire to do anything but get high. I started having trouble with the law and missed out on my daughter’s birth, just doing what I thought was most important and that was me. Played basketball for Maplewood High School, was a great player. But what God had planned I didn’t care, I just wanted what I wanted.
I went to prison 3x but still didn’t learn, I lost a very important person in my life, that was my child’s mother so that made me even worse. At least I didn’t think about anybody or anything. I thought I lost everything when she was killed. I felt so bad I even ran away from everything and everybody. After death in the hospital where I had a third of my stomach removed from drugs and alcohol I still didn’t learn. Then in 2010, I found myself turning to God where I was in prison and found myself falling in love with another and his name was Jesus. He started working in my life where I started reading and praying then Jer 29:11 came to mind. I took my focus off drugs and alcohol, focused on Jesus Christ my God, He changed my life but one day in 2014 I thought I was ok. I thought I was able to go out on my own, you know when you take your eyes off Christ you begin to sink, like Peter did when he tried to walk on water he took his eyes off Jesus.
I know where things started to reoccur in my life when I stopped going to church, stopped praying to God things got back worse again. I started to get back in trouble with the law because I started doing all the drinking and drugging again, found myself in trouble again, forgot everything that God had that God had brought me through. So now I am in worse trouble but I sat in jail again then one night someone told me that God is fixing to bless you so instead of me just sitting there, I cried out to God again. He heard my cry, it’s true the Word said He would never leave us nor forsake us, He was still waiting on me so someone said go to Safe Harbor. It’s faith-based, you will love it. They were right.
I got back involved in church, met a man named Pastor Scott from the Garden Church, where I started leading open prayer, praying over the collection and was working 10 hrs a day, 40 hrs a week. That was 5 months ago, now I graduate in 27 days to where God has truly been a blessing to me. He allowed me into a place where His Spirit is moving, and a church called the Garden where pastor Scott is the minister. I have been doing a little ministry and a whole lot of praying but if it had not been for God allowing me to enter Safe Harbor, I might have lost everything including my life but thank God and Safe Harbor for the job, the savings plan and a new way of life. Thanks to Ms Margy, Mr. Short, Jason Butts, Pastor Kenney and most of all Pastor Scott.
Thanks,
Larry Chatman"

“Hello, my name is Jeff McManis and I am a client here at the Safe Harbor of Erin, TN.
Let me start by saying this will be my 2nd time going through this program. I have been struggling with drugs and alcohol now for over 12 years. It all started with drinking alcohol at age 15, which then led to trying and using different drugs as I got older. But after long, extended nights of partying and staying away from home eventually led to my divorce. After my divorce I quit using coke and started taking opiates on a regular basis. Then I began getting multiple DUI's and arrests which led to long and longer jail sentences! With longer jail sentences I was able to get off the pills back in 2013 but I never stopped the drinking. In 2018, I got a 6th offense DUI charge and was facing 6-10 years in prison! I always knew that I had a drinking problem but never tried to get help. On November 5, 2018 I came to Safe Harbor Erin. My life had become unmanageable! This program has given me my sobriety back and another opportunity to get my life back in order. When I came here I started taking several classes at the beginning, and then they got me a steady job where I am able to pay for my treatment and also set up a savings plan to where I will have some money when I get out to start my life over again! This is by far the best treatment facility in the state of TN. Not only does this place hold you accountable for your actions but it re-teaches you basic life skills that you need to succeed in life. Want to say thank you to all the staff members here at Safe Harbor for allowing me to get my life back on track! I am truly grateful!”

" It all started when I violated my probation. When I got caught up with meth. I got put on 8 yrs probation and then failed a drug test. I got locked up in the Humphrey's County Jail where I sat for 9 months waiting for a rehab. It seemed like a lifetime when my wife called me one day and told me she had found me somewhere to go, which she had been trying for months. I couldn't believe it hardly because we have been trying for so long. But she told me that she had got a hold of a Miss Margy of Safe Harbor and that they had a bed open for me. I have never been to a rehab before but I was thinking the worst. When I got here, I couldn't believe how nice the staff is and how nice and clean the place is. This place is amazing. If you work it, it will work. I thank God for the staff at Safe Harbor for giving me a chance only God knows where I would be if Safe Harbor didn't give me a chance. "

Testimony Tuesday: Zachery Smith

"My name is Zachery Smith. I came into Safe Harbor on Nov 5, 2019. Since I came into Safe Harbor, the program has helped me readjust to society as a law abiding citizen, especially the Reliable Back to Work Program. It has given me the opportunity to get back used to working & making money the legal way instead of how I used to do things in the past. It is also helping me get closer to God through the awesome staff of Safe Harbor and the various classes that are taught on a daily basis. Usually when I get out of jail the first thing that I do is get high, but because I came into Safe Harbor I have 11 months under my belt. The IOP aspect of the program is truly a blessing to me and for me. Due to this I have other clients coming up to me and asking me how I made it thus far in my recovery."

Testimony Tuesday: Christian Carter
Intake pic - 10/02/2019
Current pic - 12/09/2019

"My name is Christian and I’m a grateful recovering addict who believes in the miracle at play. I grew up in a household raised on practicing living with great morals and values. I do really well at being a kind and gentle human being. In my early teenage years, I quickly discovered drugs. I’ve always seen or smelled drugs in my family at an early age. I was always grounded at any given times for not completing or following the most simple of tasks. I was basically grounded. My preteen years all through middle school. That’s when I started to rebel. Being grounded for weeks even months at a time for something as simple as not taking out the trash. I started smoking marijuana and drinking to escape the reality of being an unruly child. As I got even older, it progressed into prescription medications. By the time I was 18, I caught my first 5 felonies for theft over a thousand. I was taking Xanax daily and was addicted to being ______ and just plain acting a fool. Of course I violated the state probation I was given, and that came with a pre-trial diversion. All success of completing and turning one’s life around was washed down the drain. Thrown out the window. At this point in my life after catching my first charges I knew nothing about recovery. I did really good in jail the first few months. Quickly after receiving a job on the “Chain-Gang” (a job detailing the roads of trash in Cheatham Co in shackled chains).
I started smuggling drugs and tobacco into the joint. After completing 114 days I was released on parole and began drinking very heavily due to the fact that some months after being good while on parole. I never failed one drug test either. This all started 2011. I wish I could say the pain ended there but it didn’t. From countless broken relationships to shooting meth into my arm with no emotions, feelings of emptiness with a harsh reality of psychosis which for me was one big spiritual awakening. I knew at the point in my life, which was 2.5 months ago, I needed God in my life. A spiritual and\or religious program was going to be the only thing that could get me the freedom I needed. I had to start somewhere. I started with a Buffalo Valley detox program that was 7 days long in Nashville, TN. It was an amazing experience. I had been up in a hotel room for 4 months before coming to Safe Harbor of Erin. So, it was nice to finally have some normality to my life. Granted, I did sleep half the time due to detox medication. I never was accepted on a grant to where I wanted to go. With only meth in my system, nowhere would take me. Until, I had a sympathetic conversation with the Director of the facility. I spoke to her about my longing for a relationship with God. She immediately made a phone call describing a young man in dire need of some help. I was released from my treatment and was given the task to call the housing director periodically to see if any beds were open. A week goes by while at my mothers and I received a phone call to leave the next day. I was still using. Of course, being in active addiction there were grave problems that arose in the middle of the night. A conflict of me, my mother and step-father. To stop the conflict from getting worse, I left…there was nowhere to go, besides one place until my bed at Safe Harbor opened up, and that was Recovery community. I was in Hendersonville with no resources and made a 5 hour walk to the community. I knew my sobriety and work could help me get to where I needed to go. I was able to sleep on the couch at one of the men’s houses.
The next day I found a ride to Safe Harbor while at an N/A meeting. After coming to Safe Harbor I received the prized possession I began and it is a relationship with God. Some days are very hard but I manage to hang in there. The sad truth is I’ll always be an addict I think I can keep it at bay as long as I keep coming back to the rooms of N\A. THANK YOU TO THE STAFF OF SAFE HARBOR"

Testimony Tuesday: Andres Bojorquez
Intake pic - 08/26/2019
Current pic - 11/22/2019

"My name is Andres Bojorquez. Before coming to this program, I was an addict and I was tired of living. I had gotten comfortable with being a failure. Even with loved ones in my life still supporting me and not giving up on me. I had given up on myself. Even worse, I had given up on God. I had never even tried to sit down and read the Bible and I could not remember the last time I prayed. I had come to the conclusion that I would never get a chance to live a sober day much less a sober life. I knew I had so much to live for but I was tired of living. So I finally run out of people to blame for my own actions. i realize I can not continue to blame God for my decisions. And it hits me that it's not about me anymore! Because it's my loved ones around me that I'm hurting the most. That's when I fall to my knees and truly deeply ask God for help. Then two days later, this lady's voice on the other line answers my prayer. Her name is Margy. I'm thinking I'm going to rehab that will help me with my addictions and restructure my life. Not for one second did it cross my mind that this program would do so much more. I truly believe that and angel's voice is what I heard when I picked up the phone and made that call because it lead me to God! Now I'm discovering this thing called love. Each and every day. I John 4:8. So now that I found my way, thanks be to God, my family and most importantly Safe Harbor and staff, I pray that I'm fully prepared to find my purpose when I graduate. What is most encouraging for me is that I know now with enthusiasm that I am not alone. I have Christ along my side.
And now my true testimony begins."

Our own Joseph Messer gave a moving word Sunday night on " Our Hearts, His Pleasure". What a powerful encounter with our Father. Over 15 new Salvations.

Current pic - 11/25/2019

"Since I came to Safe Harbor, I have accepted God as my Lord and Savior and I have become a better man. I have been blessed getting to work 7 days a week. And I am thankful for how I have been put in the right direction. I don't feel sorry for myself no more. Now I want to share kindness with people where I used to be so selfish towards others. And now I want to give and I look forward for a new life. Thank you to the staff here at Safe Harbor!"

Pastor Scott explains his recent stay at the Hospital and is very transparent with the guys about his struggles and his healing of a very rare cancer. Yet takes a word from Jeremiah 18:4 "And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it".....Amen!

Testimony Tuesday: Jimmy "Happy" White
Intake pic - 06/19/2019
Current pic - 11/15/2019

"Hi, my name is Jimmy D. White II. I want to tell you a story about how I have come to be at Safe Harbor and what the Creator has done for me in the name of Jesus filled by the Holy Ghost. I was born 6/19/83 3 hours away from my hometown in Memphis, 3 months premature. I have two sisters I have never met and one I don’t know. I left home at the age of 13, living in central Florida working and a drop out at 13. I started escaping what life had done to me through sex, drugs and rock & roll. I ran from a warrant back to Memphis for 4 yrs till Florida caught me 2 months before I was 18. During that time, I was drugging and thugging. God was there He had a woman take me off the streets and take care of me. When Florida caught up with me, God gave me favor and let me go and all charges were dropped cause I was on the run as a minor for 4 yrs and stayed out of trouble. Again, God had His hand on me.
I came home and because everyone wanted me to and I felt it was what I should do, I got baptized Easter Eve. Again, God had His hand on me. He then blessed me with 3 girls 1 boy same amount of kids my mother had. Again, God had his hand on me. I stayed married for 13 yrs and then I started to spiral after my divorce I started snorting Heroin/Meth. I tried to kill myself one time after I had been up for 4 days on an Adderall binge and snorted a $100 worth of Heroin. I woke up in the hospital again God had His hand on me. I left Memphis left with a woman who then for reason I started doing more meth and more. After being up for 7 days straight, I fell asleep one Sat. woke up Sunday, went out on the porch smoked a cig and went to come in and I decided to turn back and kneeled down and when I went to pray, I was mumbling. Others inside started laughing and mocking and finally I got it out Lord I need You: Bible says, and My children will call upon Me in the time of trouble and I will rescue them. And again, God had his hand on me.
I did what I was asked. I left the woman, all my belongings and started walking back to Memphis. My old boss was there whom I call my Paul from the Bible cause he was my boss leader and knew the Word. I prayed God would send me a great desire for me to know His Word. He did. I then had a decision to make. What did I want to do, go get mental help or spiritual help. I chose spiritual. I then went to a place called God’s new life in Mark Tree, AR. I was there only 3 weeks, those three weeks taught me to fight how to discern and that the Creator of me loves me. I was fine when I came home to Memphis, as long as I was all eyes on Jesus as soon as I took my eyes off, I was like Paul falling in the water. Back to drugs, sex, rock and roll. Some very, very, very special people to me asked me to come to stay in Somnerville with them. I did for 6 months and they helped God train me up in His ways.
I was Podcasting sermons. I was writing books. I was casting out demons in the name of Jesus. I was healing the sick in the name of Jesus, learning about and how to fill my spiritual gifts of prophesying. I never had a help me pray to our Father so for 3 months straight I would ask my Holy Spirit help me pray to our Father and one night the tongues of the Holy One came out. So by now, you probably think Nope, I relapsed. Again, God had His hand on me. I came back fast and ate greens to cleanse me. I was working at Wal-Mart and I kept seeing my birthday on invoices, time, etc a lot 6-19. Well, 6-18 I’m in a car with a man who has the same passion I have and some of the same background we talk for about 2.5 hours and he brings me to a place called Safe Harbor. I can say this place God has brought me to and it’s designed for you to have a relationship with God. I’m 6 months and 2 weeks sober. This is the longest I have been sober since I was 13. Again, God has His hand on me. I give all that I’ve done good and bad, all of the glory in it cause I can’t manage my life. He is the Waymaker, light in the darkness, His breath in my lungs, His spirit that convicts me and has me conscious of what’s really going on. I want to leave you with this: try it out, really accept our Lord who died on a cross for our sins. If I’m wrong, you lose nothing.
May grace and peace be with you all in Jesus name. Amen
Romans 8:1; Ephesians 10-18; Psalms 93; James 1:19; Exodus 14:14; Matthew 6:34
Read a Proverbs a day, 31 days in a month 31 Proverbs and a Psalms. Thank you for being the hands of Safe Harbor. Father told me when I leave a place, if they blessed and accepted me to bless the house and lift it up to Father. If not dust my feet off as I leave their house. Safe Harbor, I lift you up to the Father and bless the house of Safe Harbor in Jesus Christ’s name AMEN!
Love, Happy AKA Shorty"

Testimony Tuesday: Michael Cantrell
Intake pic - 08/19/2019
Current pic - 10/30/2019

"It was a hard decision at the time on August 18th. That was the day I decided to admit myself into rehab. I was addicted to meth for 2 years. I tried outpatient rehab in my hometown of Sharon, TN. It was just not enough discipline for me. This Safe Harbor rehab here in Erin, TN gave me life and I’m so very grateful for them. They gave me a place to live and food to eat, a bed to sleep in and a brotherhood of brothers that I love deeply. Mr. Jason Butts was the very first person I met when I showed up and got out of the vehicle that dropped me off. He was so respectful to me that he helped me carry my bags of personal belongings into the rehab. I have respected him ever since. He showed me compassion that I didn’t deserve and made me feel welcome. It was the nicest thing that someone has done for me in a very long time. Safe Harbor helped me find myself in Christ as well as becoming a born-again Christian. It gave me life as well as reuniting me with my son Michael Dale Cantrell.
Mrs. Margy was the most respectful as well. She was the only one that I could talk to that I felt comfortable telling my story about my addiction too. I know that she made me feel welcome as well as a person that I could cry out to and not be embarrassed. I recommend Safe Harbor to anybody that has any kind of addiction. I will be forever in debt to this program and I’m grateful for Safe Harbor in Erin, TN. I know my mother Tammy Hayes can sleep in peace knowing that I’m safe here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul to Safe Harbor and these two people Jason Butts and Ms. Margy. I love all three of you so very much."

Thank you Pastor Benny for the great word on truth, and Client Toyal Crawford with that anointed voice ushering in the moving of the Spirit...Amen!

Testimony Tuesday: Anthony "AJ" Jarrett
Intake pic - 2/26/2019
Current pic - 10/18/2019

"Hello, my name is Anthony Joseph Jarrett. I’m 22 years old and 8 months ago, I was stuck in a jail cell not knowing what to do with my life. I was alone and unhappy with myself. My family didn’t have anything to do with me at all, lost everything.
At this time, I knew God was trying to show me He was standing behind me the whole time, just never really paid attention. I found a rehab in Jackson. I stayed there for 26 days and ruined it or should I say God had different plans for me. I got a call from my mom saying some guy was telling her about Safe Harbor. That was the day that I left everything I ever thought was fun and that I thought I enjoyed…behind me. Drugs, wanna-be friends and just all the negative vibes behind me. All gone.
When I got here, yea I was nervous but with due time everything worked out. I’m now in a worship group at church, I have a beautiful daughter that I want to be there for every day and every night. I’ve got my family back and I got my weight up. Every day I go to work and it’s the best feeling in the world. I’m grateful every day to wake up and make some money and learn more about God and better myself. I’ve got a true and real brother here Trevor Scott and most of all, I found hope again here. Safe Harbor or Erin TN is the place to find strength and hope and to find yourself again through whatever you’re going through. Thank you, Safe Harbor! Love ya’ll!"

“I have to leave here or I’m going to die!” I said to myself, “you have to go NOW!” If you don’t get help NOW, you are going to die!” and soon! It’s an alarm I’ve heard before but never like this. The “here” I had to leave is my home and life of the last 20 years.
Leave and go where? I had no bridges left. Burned them all. There is a 28-day program that’s a 12 min cab ride from my house. That’s how long a few people I know stayed sober after graduating the 28-day program. The 12 minutes it took to get to my house. There is an unnamed state mental health facility that thrives on psychotropic meds and repeat business. It is a 20 min. cab ride from my house. I needed God to take me away for a long time.
Then I heard about a place called Safe Harbor. A faith based, 6-month program in Erin, TN. Turns out I had one bridge left. God. He hadn’t bailed out on me. I BELIEVE WITHOUT A DOUBT SAFE HARBOR SAVED MY LIFE!"

Testimony Tuesday: Daniel Mason
Intake pic - 06/07/2019
Current pic - 09/21/2019

"Oscar Wilde once wrote “A burnt child loves the fire.” My name is Daniel James Mason and I have lived my life according to those words throughout my addiction of alcohol and drugs. I started smoking pot at 13 years old and gradually increased my drug usage through the years to follow. By age 16 I was shooting cocaine in the bathroom stalls in high school. That grew into an unhealthy appetite for speed and meth. Throughout my adult life I have spent too much time in and out of jail until the courts sent me here to Safe Harbor of Erin. I immediately felt a sense of comfort and relief from the staff as well as from the clients. Since I have been here I have surrendered my life over into the hands of my Father God. I can not describe the overwhelming feeling of love, peace and joy I now have with my life. Thanks to God and all the staff for believing in me and not giving up on me. I now have hope for the future. I have been given the tools to become a better son, father and respected member of society. Thank you for all the many blessings I have received. “For I know the thought that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11"

"My name is Kyle Collins, well I came into the program May 22, 2019 scared and nervous. First time I have ever done anything like this but it really opened me up when everyone from staff here welcomed me with open arms. My drug of choice was pills and really messed my life up and turned me into someone I never wanna be again. I stole from family, friends and lost all trust from everybody. I had to do a lot of time in jail and cost my family a lot of money in fines and court costs but I’m a new me now. These past 4.5 months was kind of a struggle but I told myself I have to and want to do this for me and my family and I can’t thank the staff here at Safe Harbor Erin enough for changing my life around for me. Love ya’ll so very much."

What a great time hanging out with the families and clients at Tennsco's Family Day 2019. Thank you Tamara, Kim, and Jennifer for all you do for our clients and Thank you Tennsco for all your support of Safe Harbor Erin.

"My name is Matthew Whittington Ellis. When I was 12 my parents got a divorce. By 14, I was drinking regularly. By 16, I was using drugs such as marijuana, LSD, and ecstasy. At 17 came cocaine. Then in my 20’s came pills and heroin. Then last at 33, I found meth. I’ve had 7 DUI’s and multiple drug arrests. I’ve finally had enough and needed to do something. My last arrest, I spent about 18 months in jail and didn’t want to live life anymore. I was able to get into Safe Harbor Erin where they have showed me a way of life that I didn’t know existed. That’s God’s way. So I decided to let Him take over and show me the way. I don’t have the urges to use and want to be clean and sober for a long time to come and help others through my trials and tribulations. It can be done. If you follow God’s path for you."

"Before coming to Safe Harbor, I found myself at the end of a 17-year marriage. Lost deep into my addictions lacking any real hope for the future or reason to continue living. Hating who I’d become and no idea what to do with my life that was quickly falling apart. I was completely broken mentally, physically and spiritually.
When arriving at Safe Harbor Erin on July 13, 2018 it was in the middle of the night. As the sun came up the next morning a feeling of being safe and where I belonged rushed over me. Within two weeks of classes and life changing ministry from devoted staff member, a life that had no direction or purpose became free and open. Driven by the need and calling to serve in the same ministry that changed my own life by taking a broken heart and transforming it into an open heart. First by serving in the kitchen serving my brothers, turning into a fulltime CDL driving position that gives me the honor of driving over half the working population to and from work every day.
For the first time in many years, I’m learning to walk in God’s will and not my own. To card for and serve men struggling for a better way of life just like myself and finding it only through the love and mercy of Christ. It’s not always easy or fun but nothing worth having seldom is. However, there is nowhere else on this earth that I’d rather be serving the Lord that has shown me so much love and mercy."

"Addiction Doesn’t Discriminate!
Let me begin with my life.
I played triple A baseball for the Atlanta Braves 1979-1982. I raced motorcross for Yamaha. I was a Sheriff’s Deputy in St. Lucie Co, Florida for 10 years. I raised 2 great sons and had a great life.
Then in 2005, a work accident caused a severe back injury and my addiction was born. Opiate addiction led me to a life of stealing, lying and jail. My first rehab set me on the right path. I stayed clean for 4 years and thought I had my life back. I was wrong. In 2018 addiction came calling again. This time, alcohol. I came close to death a couple of times but what was missing the whole time was God. A pastor friend of mine told me about Safe Harbor. God’s grace brought me home.
Through grace and counseling and very big hearts have brought me through my very bottom in life. I am 4 months through a 6 month program. Through God’s grace and blessings I’m going to live again.
Thank you God.
Thank you Safe Harbor.
Randy Koski"

Labor Day 2019
What a great Labor Day we had in Erin today! Again Pa Pa's BBQ donated all the wood and sauce needed to smoke the 5 shoulders we had for the clients. Also the family support our clients have here is unreal. Our parking lot and driveway was full from all the families showing up to support their loved ones. Just wanted to give a shout out to Gary Kenney, Margy Bevilacqua, William Short, Joseph Messer, George VanZandbergen, Mike Maroney and the rest of the volunteers that helped make this a special day for our clients and their families.
Our guys having fun with the Cornhole tournament...winners get $50 gift card and runner ups get $25! I think they all signed up before the announcement had been finished lol. Toyal Crawford and James Martin are in the lead...
After 6 hours of competitive play, our winners are:
Toyal Crawford/James Martin $50 each
Michael Denton/unnamed client $25 each

Testimony Tuesday: Billy Joe Farley - August 27, 2019
Intake Pic - 04/07/2019
Current Pic - 08/19/2019

"Starting over.
Hello, my name is Billy Farley. On April 7, I got the chance to start my life over. For the last 3 yrs I have been heavily using crystal meth. It was always around and so easily to obtain. It eventually became my new normal. After getting busted several times, eventually I got busted with enough that I ended up getting indicted on felony charges. Enough was enough, I finally was at the end of my rope. After making a few phone calls, I found a place out in the middle of nowhere called Erin, TN. This little country town out in the middle of nowhere was where I would get to start over at a place called Safe Harbor. After - I am proud to say that I am finally gonna make it. I have been sober for 135 days now. I have a job working 40 hours a week paying taxes again. I get to wake up every morning now instead of staying awake for literally 2 weeks straight. What I once thought was a never ending nightmare, was now turning into a dream come true again.
Time has flown by the last couple weeks. It seems like just yesterday I was coming down off dope and now I am getting ready to graduate soon. Safe Harbor has shown me that there is hope after all. The program has helped me become the man I used to be. I have a savings account that I will use to get my own house when I get out. I have gotten closer to God and my family. I am finally starting my life over thanks to Safe Harbor. The staff and clients here have allowed me to get my life together. If it wasn’t for them, I would be dead or spend the next several years in prison.
Thank you, Safe Harbor for helping set the foundation for my sober life with God and my family. Amen!!!"

Safe Harbor Erin would like to thank Impact Ministries Richard and Dana Dantzler for leading our praise and worship Sunday night. Pastor Scott gave a word on the fact that all things are possible through Jesus Christ whom strengthens us....Amen!

Testimony Tuesday - August 20, 2019 : Winston Clay
Intake Pic - 02/09/2019
Current Pic - 98/18/2019

“Hey so my name is Winston Clay and when I walked in here I had no hope, I had no desire to keep fighting, I didn't wanna deal with life anymore. Been going back and forth in life since I was 14 yrs old. Been a regular alcohol drinker since I've been 17. Drinking has always been a constant problem of mine, took away my pain easily when i was a kid. I was taken away from my parents at the age of 8. I moved from 23 foster homes before the age of 14, went back and forth from Chattanooga to Kingsport constantly trying to work things out with my biological parents but some things ain't meant to understand and when God takes something from you, He means for you to move on without it. But I didn't want to let go so I was constantly trying to make things work that ain't meant to work. Ya know, so it was a back and forth game from place to place on and off the street, in and out of treatment since I was 17.
Safe Harbor was the one though. I walked in a hospital and said I'm gonna die if I don't get some help and I'm not leaving until I know I got somewhere to go. Well God worked it out and got me to Clarksville, then to Erin. I walked in with hospital scrubs and shoes completely broken and given up, till God began to move in my life, so ready to let God take the wheel. I came in not knowing the experience that was about to happen. I began to transform into what God made me to be cause we all have a purpose, just have to activate it. So I got involved in activities here at Safe Harbor. I helped wherever I was needed so I could keep my mind busy.
So I clicked up with Mr. Short, my road dog and let me tell you, after telling me to get somewhere and sit down, we became best friends. He called on me and I called on him. I'd definitely call him my accountability partner. So as time ticked, I got a shot at Tennsco my first month there and my trials and tribulations just kept coming. I couldn't get right. They put me on hanging, I messed that up, they put on take off, I messed that up. They put me on hooks, I couldn't do that so they sent me to another plant. I busted a die my first day and then another one the next day, then another die that Friday. Well, the manager came to me and said how are you with computers, I said I'm alright so they put me on the coil fed plasma laser to train and I excelled and was offered a full time job offer again. Tell me how God works, amen!
So I've been out there working in the laser, well half way through and my appendix decides to catch an infection and swell up so I leave work early, get back to Safe Harbor and lay in bed till next morning and they take me to Erin hospital and they rush me in an ambulance to Dickson for surgery but tell me God ain't good...found the infection, went under surgery, got it out and I was back walking around in less than a week. Right back on work mode for a month and a half and job was held and I got hired on fulltime in July.
So I tell you all this to say this: no matter what your going through been through or deal with, where there's a will God will always make a way. It's when you give up your help dwindles. Safe Harbor was hard but getting right ain't easy or everybody would be doing it, right? From the classes I've learned Bible study, Sunday services, outside adventures, growth in my spiritual life, it's been a 180 turn around from where we was at when we walked in the door 6 months ago. So leaving Safe Harbor this weekend was hard but I left with family, a full time job, a house I'll be moving into and a new mindset. God will give back everything the devil took from you if you throw ya hands up and say Lord help me I can't do this anymore by myself I know...I'm a witness!”

August 13, 2019 Testimony Tuesday: Trevor Scott
Intake pic - 04/02/2019
Current pic - 08/09/2019

“My name is Trevor Scott I am 28 years old. I started taking pain pills when I was 19 , at first it was just a way to have some fun, and change my state of mind , but it quickly became part of my everyday life. I was in a relationship that at one time was great and we had a son together, but I chose the pills and the party over my son. I could not even take care of myself much less my a kid , so as time went on my addiction progressed , the pills weren't affecting me anymore, and I was introduced to injecting heroin at 23.
The heroin along with the needle took me to the darkest of places and I reached the lowest of lows , I found myself homeless in Nashville living at the rescue mission doing whatever it took to "stay well". I finally moved back to Columbia my hometown in 2014 but my disease came with me and I started mixing my heroin with ice. Since 2014 I've spent 3 years in Maury county and Marshall county jails and been to various treatment facilities, but this past time God sent me to Safe Harbor of Erin. At Safe Harbor I have been able to learn not only how to establish and maintain my relationship with God , but also prepare myself for my transition back into the real world , I have been sober since March 12 2019, and as of today I have no desire to use , and that is only because God is doing for me what I could not do for myself and he is using this ministry and the people he has placed in it for his glory. I have obtained a church home, a great job, and a mentor since arriving here at Safe Harbor. I am back in my son's life and able to see him and talk to him.
God has delivered me from my bad and turned it into good through this ministry and for that I'm forever grateful ! 1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace who called us to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus after you have suffered a while perfect establish strengthen and settle you.”

Thank you Pastor Bill Wolf of Carlisle Union Church for a great service of praise and worship Sunday evening!

Had a great time Saturday at Magnum’s Family Day 2019! Our guys who work there had fun on the 20 ft water slide. Great fun, great food, great day!

Testimony Tuesday: Joshua Etherton
Intake pic- 02/04/2019
Current pic- 07/25/2019

“Have you ever bought a toy for your child or a piece of furniture that didn't have the instructions inside of it? And try to put it together anyway. What we end up with is extra pieces leftover. And those extra pieces get lost or thrown away. And because we didn't put the thing together the way the manufacturer designed it to be. It always fell apart. That's the way my life has always been. Put together without any instructions.
My name is Joshua Etherton and all my life I've striven to be something good. But because I was not given any instructions, everything I tried to do fell apart. I finally decided at the age of 26 to join the United States Army. After returning from my deployment in Iraq I became highly addicted to opioids. Because of my addiction I have lost the only job that gave me purpose. And ended up doing 10 years in federal prison.
Even after doing all that time in prison. I was still motivated to get my life back on track. But I knew I couldn't do it alone. God placed in my life a loving, caring and beautiful wife, Jessica Duffy. And because she loved me so much, with the help of Randy Roberts, I found Safe Harbor and he helped me get in. When I came to Safe Harbor I felt a sense of belonging. Like I was more than just a broken man who spent a decade of his life in prison.
Safe Harbor put the pieces I was missing back in my life. They gave me the tools and instructions I needed. And most importantly they placed God in my life. I can never repay what Safe Harbor has done for me and my family. I can only thank God for making a place like Safe Harbor. And because of the love and respect they have given me. I felt motivated to seek full time employment with Safe Harbor after I graduate the program, where maybe I can make a difference in someone else's life.”

** Joshua is also full-time upon graduation in a few weeks. He has been a van driver for several months now, and will become our new maintenance man in a few weeks. We are so proud of him! **

With the help of the Holy Spirit there was a move tonight. Our clients wanted to go outside and worship their Savior Jesus Christ, lifting their hands to the heavens... so we let them.

Testimony Tuesday: Joseph Messer
Intake Pic - 10/12/2018
Current Pic - 07/18/2019

"As I'm writing this, my heart and mind are overwhelmed with so many emotions. I'm finding that I haven't allowed myself to just sit and reflect on my journey enough and what God has actually brought me out of, or what I've actually been set free. I haven't allowed myself to sit and think about how broken I really was when I came to Safe Harbor. Broken and lost are probably the most accurate words to describe myself when coming to Safe Harbor. I came in the program after a heroin overdose. I dealt with an opiate addiction for several years; however, thinking back the drug addiction was not my problem. I was my problem. I was dealing with so many significant issues. With the death of my mother, being recently divorced, losing everything I've worked for at my young age. I walked around with a broken heart. I walked around feeling depressed, anxious and abandoned. Drugs along with my other poor choices was just a temporary fulfillment to feel something other than what i was feeling. What started out to be a temporary fulfillment, shortly turned into a stronghold, something that i let identify myself for years. It almost destroyed me. I remember walking through the doors of Safe Harbor. All the clients and staff were welcoming from the beginning. I have had great mentors along the way. Pastor Kenney, Jason Butts, Mr. Short and George all played a significant role in my spiritual development. I've learned so much from each one of these men. The most important thing I learned from these men is complete 100% surrender to Jesus. For months I walked around depressed, anxious and broken. I found myself just going through the motions and every day routine of the program. Dealing with me, and my issues, lead me to a place of exhaustion and brokenness. It also lead me to a place of complete surrender to Christ, and it wasn't until that moment i saw change.
It was a moment of desperation to have something more than what I had. It was an encounter with God that would change my life forever. It was just me and him in my room sharing a moment that would transform me into the very thing he created me to be all along. From that moment I was set free from me. From my depression, my anxiety, from everything that had me broken. I no longer identify myself by my issues. I'm no longer an addict, my past issues with addiction do not define me. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I'm no longer an addict, God calls me a Son, I am a new creation, the old man has passed away, ALL things have been made new. Every day since then, I have focused on knowing him more, seeking the purpose he has for my life. He has continued to move in my life in so many ways, I deny myself- all of me, all my selfish desires daily. In return, He continues to reveal Himself to me, develop me, renew my mind daily. I now have the pleasure to be a part of a ministry where God's Spirit is moving and not just changing men's lives but changing their hearts, their minds, and their spirits. This ministry is about so much more than a man's recovery. This ministry is about seeing a man give up being something they were never created to be, so God can come in and make them whole, make them new and most importantly set them free.
I want to thank Safe Harbor for being obedient to God's word and allowing Him to move in my life and the lives of so many others. Today I am blessed and grateful to be a part of this ministry. If there's anything you take from this part of my story, it doesn't matter who you are today, it doesn't matter what issues you're dealing with, how big, how small. God has the ability to make all things new. Heaven went bankrupt to redeem our value with all that was given on that cross. Don't sell cheap when you've been bought with such a price. Revelation 12:11"
** We would love to announce that Joseph is now a Program Coordinator with Safe Harbor of Erin. Welcome to the team! **

TESTIMONY TUESDAY!! Joshua Johnson- before pic: 10/19/18 after pic 7/3/19
"To whom it may concern. My name is Joshua Johnson. My journey of recovery first started at the Hope Center. I was there for about 4 months. I got myself back on the right track following Jesus and gave my life over to Him by getting baptized for the first time. My journey was just beginning at this time. Now before this journey, I have lost about everything including hope. The woman I loved had left me and I just felt like it was the end. The 4 months at the Hope Center came to an end. God had somewhere else for me to be and now here I sit at Safe Harbor Erin, TN, where I’ve grown even more in my faith. From being here at Safe Harbor my focus has changed from my addiction to building my future for not just myself but for my family. With being with Safe Harbor Erin, I now have the ability to build a foundation to build my future on with the back to work program they have. I have gotten my self-esteem and confidence back to be happy with myself again. From being here I’ve learned to love myself again and with putting God first in all I do, there isn’t anything I can’t accomplish and in saying this I’ve worked my way to a full-time here. Also from being here not only have I gotten myself bac, but my family too. I got the woman I love more than life itself back in my life and plans to be married once I’m done with my time here. But my journey will not end with Safe Harbor, because my time is up. I have plans to do something within Safe Harbor ministries. I also gotta give a special thanks to a guy that has helped in my journey in getting back to work and having the faith in me and believing in me and push to do what I needed to do, not just for myself but for my family because they deserve it. His name is Jay “Jason” Butts and I can’t forget the rest of the staff at Safe Harbor Erin. So, to whomever reads this, don’t give up on yourself because in doing so you give up on your family. Keep your focus and don’t forget where you’ve come from."

“Consider a tree for a moment. As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don't see what goes on underground - as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty. But we don't see the roots. We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree.” - Joyce Meyer

Blessed!
A big thank you to Nan Casey and Anita Wilson, our licensed clinicians overseeing our IOP Program. They wanted to share their support and praise for all that we are doing at Safe Harbor. To hear them tell it we are the best thing going and the only program offering such a continuum of care to our clients in ways that NOBODY else is. Lord we bless You!

Fall Revival 2018 Safe Harbor Erin!
“We had a great day with the men of Safe Harbor of Erin and Safe Harbor of Clarksville.
Then 12 were baptized in the Creek. Yes it was cold, but there is nothing like watching “the old man” float away, down the Creek. What a Blessing to see lives change for the Glory of God.”  - Brad Bowie

We had a moving testimony given to us from our reliable Coordinator, Jay. Pastor Dennis Kirk gave an inspiring word to the guys tonight as well.

Pastor Charles Potter gave a powerful message on not knowing what life and death holds, but God does and in this we can find peace, and strength. In this moving of the Holy Spirit 13 souls accepted Christ on our 1st night.

We had a waffle making class at Erin Sunday, in hope of giving our guys some dignity and independence. Every man is making their own waffles starting this morning.

The Pay It Back Program is in full swing again!
After a short break due to bad weather, the Erin crew is back in action. Today they spent their morning cleaning up the park downtown Erin. Afterward the crew gathered for some fellowship. Good to Great!

Opioid Epidemic Conference
“Sitting at the Memphis Airport waiting for my flight to Washington, D.C. to represent Safe Harbor at a Conference on the Opioid Epidemic that is ravaging our country. This is an extreme “Honor” to have been invited by the White House to attend this Conference and cause the “Light” to shine a little brighter upon this great company that we get to serve God in and through.
My thought of the day is: “ Remain humble and thankful because humility and thankfulness prepares you for honors. Pride and Arrogance prepares us for destruction and falls. We have the privilege to choose the path we walk. We really never know everything God is working out and preparing for us. Choose God today....”

I Am One definition.
Clients from Erin volunteer each Sunday morning cleaning up the town of Erin! The following is an example of excellence and the meaning of I Am One! This is their Sunday morning church.

A student on the Houston County Hugh School Football Team broke his neck. The city of Erin threw a benefit fundraiser in the square. As part of the Pay It Back Program, the guys jumped at the opportunity to clean up the Town Square after all of the festivities. Please keep this young man and his family in your prayers, for they have a long road ahead of them.
